Exhibition extended!

Due to significant interest by the wide public, we have decided to extend the exhibition “Inca Gold - the 1,000 Year Curse” until the end of April of this year.

The exhibition will once again be open daily from 10 am until 6 pm, with the exception of Easter Monday, April 5, 2010, when the exhibition will be closed.

During the course of the extended period, we will be preparing interesting lectures for the public from a number of experts and travellers involved in the given area of interest, and also in the area of South American culture.

January 26, 2010...

Thus far, almost 30 thousand people have visited the exhibition.

It is most likely that this coming weekend will mark a momentous occasion - welcoming visitor number 30,000.

The lucky visitor can look forward to a thematically-valuable gift which we have prepared for them

Help for HAITI

We have decided to devote the proceeds from our entrance fee on the following two Mondays, i.e. January 25 and February 1, 2010, to earthquake relief in Haiti.

By viewing the exhibition on these two days, you will have the unique opportunity to provide aid to a good cause and at least partially alleviate the catastrophic results of the unfortunate situation in Haiti.

November 20, 2009...

An imaginary gate was opened today at 10 a.m. for the visitors to the Špilberk Castle housing the exhibition "INCAgold– 1000 Years of Malediction".

From this day to the end of next February, every day, including weekends, until late afternoon hours, the visitors can feast their eyes on the beauty of the exhibits.

They can also look forward during the exhibition to a host of accompanying events of varied character.

November 16, 2009...

Today, in the early evening, four days before the official beginning of the IncaGold – 1000 year curse Exhibition, several exhibits from this remarkable and extremely rare collection of gold items from the Gold of Peru Museum in Lima were festively unveiled by the Peruvian representative in the spaces of Castle Špilberk.

The collection of original items made its way to Brno from its stop in Prague under very special and heightened security measures. Media representatives who were invited thus had the unique opportunity to view some of the exhibited items without the otherwise necessary special display cases and protective regulations.

Peruvian representatives expressed their admiration for the Czech media’s interest in their national pride – as this is, undoubtedly, what Inca Gold is to them.

From November 20, visitors of Castle Špilberk will be able to view more than 90 different exhibits.

November 5, 2009...

On the 20th of November 2009, the exhibition INCAgold - 1000 Year Curse opened at the Brno, Castle Špilberk, the thousand years old residence of Bohemian rulers and Czech presidents. Whilst in Germany, 80,000 people visited the exhibition and were enthusiastic about the Incas and the fascinating Andean region.

Up to 90 original golden exhibits, very important to the history of arts and initially coming from the Museo de Oro in Lima/ Peru, are the highlights of the exhibition. Now in Europe, a unique compilation of the Incas’ wealth shows masks, mugs, bowls and jewellery made of solid gold dated from 400 BC to 1,500 AD. The golden exhibits are aglow with the magic darkness. Coca bags and enormous beer mugs bear witness to hallucinogenic ceremonies. Great burial objects give an idea of the rulers’ importance.

The exhibition in Brno takes place in the prestigious and representative spaces of the West wing of Castle Špilberk and is open daily from 10 am to 6 pm.
